What is Applebee’s bourbon street chicken and shrimp?

Applebee’s Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp is a classic chicken dish with a spicy kick. It features succulent grilled chicken, scallops, shrimp, and spinach piled on top of baked potatoes. The dish comes with a side salad and dinner roll.

The bourbon-flavored bourbon sauce gives this dish its signature flavor and brings out the sweetness in the chicken. The rest of the ingredients add their own unique flavors and textures—the scallops are light and mild, while the shrimp are slightly more robust in flavor. The spinach adds a freshness that offsets the richness of all of these ingredients perfectly.

Cooking Tips

Applebee’s bourbon street chicken and shrimp is delicious, but it can be improved. Here are some tips to make it even better:

  1. Start with fresh food: Applebee’s uses frozen shrimp and chicken, so if you want to make the dish at home, pick up fresh versions instead.
  2. Ensure your sauce is hot before serving the dish to your guests: Let the sauce sit in a bowl for a few minutes before serving it so that it will heat up quickly and evenly throughout the bowl when you pour it into it.
  3. Add some garlic butter on top of each piece of chicken or shrimp when you plate them up! It tastes great with or without this step, but I think if you do add it in, then people will be more likely to eat more :)

What To Serve With

Applebee’s bourbon street chicken and shrimp is a favorite of many, but it can be intimidating to choose the best side dishes to go with it. Luckily, we’ve got you covered!

Here are some ideas for serving Applebees bourbon street chicken and shrimp with:

  • Cherry cole slaw
  • Creamy garlic mashed potatoes with bacon bits
  • Mashed cauliflower
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Roasted vegetables

Storage

To keep your chicken and shrimp from getting slimy while in storage, we recommend storing them in separate containers. The first container should be deep enough to cover both the chicken and shrimp when they’re stacked on top of each other, with the chicken at the bottom of the stack and the shrimp on top. Then, pour all of the sauce over the top of everything, making sure that it comes up to just below where it meets the top edge of each stack.

If you want to store these bites without having to worry about any liquid leaking onto your countertop or floor, then you can use plastic wrap instead of containers—just make sure that there are no holes in it!

Reheating

When you’re ready to enjoy the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp, reheating it is simple—just place the package in a microwave-safe bowl, cover it with aluminum foil, and cook on high power for 3 minutes. If you want to make sure your dish is heated through, check on it at 2 minutes.
